Get to Know Me: Lending Books to Friends and Family

I’m a member of an author/book reader facebook group, and the admins ask great questions. I decided to turn some of the questions into a “get to know me” series. I would also love to hear your answers to the questions posed in the series. Thanks Helen for asking such fun questions!

Do you lend your books to friends and family? Why or why not?

Rather than lend books, I will just gift the book to a friend. If in conversation they have mentioned they want to read such and such book, and I have it and I’ve read it, I will give it to them. If I want to read it again, I’ll buy another or get it from the library.

I used to hoard things, books, paperwork, you name it. After my divorce in 2007, I decided I didn’t want to be so attached to things, to be more minimalist. I had what I called The Great Purge! My kids were little at that time, and they would tell anyone who would listen that their mom was giving away all of our stuff! Hahaha! It was incredibly freeing. I even wrote a blog post about it! It was that powerful!

What about you?
